Well not exactly born, more 'morphed'. Many teachers will be familiar with the achievements of Farming and Countryside Education (FACE) which started life in 2001 and became well known for creating resources, supporting teachers and farmers in the all-important bid to help young people experience our wonderful countryside.
In 2017 FACE merged with the equally well respected Linking Environment And Farming (LEAF), the farming charity that works to inspire and enable sustainable farming. The new joint venture – LEAF Education – will build on the successes of both organisations.
How does this benefit you as a teacher? LEAF Education will continue to produce resources for schools and you can view all the existing materials here. We are offering more teacher CPD and, while continuing our work with primary schools, we are now devoting more time to the secondary sector as we build our expertise in analysing curriculum requirements and exam specifications to demonstrate how food, farming and environment topics can provide applied examples and inspiration. Find out more about what we can offer at www.leafuk.org/education.
LEAF Education is the leading partner of the Countryside Classroom partnership and we are thrilled with the number of organisations involved in the project. Individuals are also welcome to participate, and one way for teachers to join in is by adding to the bank of resources on this portal.
