Try out this week's super science activities including videos, games, worksheets and our Big Worm Hunt Competition with a chance of winning a wonderful wormery kit for your child to enjoy at home!

Ages 3 - 6

Watch farmer Brian show you how to safely Sample Worms in your home or school garden and use the attached work sheet and guidance notes to learn all about how important soils and worms are in helping prevent climate change.

Take part in LEAF Education's Big Worm Hunt Competition for a chance to win a wormery where your child can watch worms mix up the different coloured layers in their chamber and feed them leaves. 

Check out this Science of Sheep e-booklet available also in Welsh for home educators with activity ideas for each age group throughout primary school. Parents - don't be put off by the curriculum references; just pick and choose some of the fun activities in the right hand column and be inspired by some of the facts about sheep!

Be a National Trust Nature Spotter by heading to the nearest pond and see how many of these creatures you can find in the water. 

Our partner AHDB have posters and digital copies of activity sheets that will be a big hit with children that are interested in farm animals and how crops are harvested. 

Ages 7 - 11

Watch videos on this recently launched YouTube channel produced by our partner One Seed Forward. This community growing initiative aim to encourage people of all ages to grow their own vegetables and fruit, eat them and give some to others in the community to enjoy. 

This Gardening Resource has six indoor and outdoor games to help children learn some of the basics of gardening such as tool use and crop families.

This e-booklet for home educators uses activities inspired by food and farming to deliver Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects.

Try this guided exploration of how Climate Change may affect what we grow, through a series of questions with suggested websites to investigate the answers.

Ages 11 - 16

Examine the welfare and ethical issues concerned with rearing chickens for meat as an example of selective breeding and intensive farming. Follow up by designing a chicken welfare experiment.

Learn more about Sustainability with this guided exploration of how agriculture can benefit wildlife, though a series of questions with suggested websites to investigate the answers. 

The ABC of STEM in Food Production features 5 short videos that show the A to Z of the part science, technology, engineering & maths play in modern food production. 

It's said that if cooking is art then baking is science. Learn about the Science behind Baking and have some fun making some delicious recipes.
