LEAF Education builds on the great legacy of FACE in reaching out to young people about how their food is grown and where it comes from, as well as opening their minds to the many career opportunities available in the sector.

Over the past year, we have been carrying out some pioneering research with 12-18 year olds to explore their views and values in relation to farming and how food is produced. The results were revealed at LEAF Education’s annual conference on the 16th October 2018. Find out more here.

We want to enthuse young people about the magic of farming and open their eyes to the wonder of the natural world. In an age of increasing digitalisation this matters, because the more disconnected our young people become from their food and how it is produced, the less likely they are to care about its origins, let alone understand what healthy food choices mean and their role in physical and mental well-being. We are talking to teenagers, listening to them and, crucially, making sure we use their voices to help us define how farming becomes more relevant to the next generation. To find out more contact Janet Hickinbottom, LEAF Education’s National Education Officer.
